LEAN RESEARCH FOR NON-RESEARCHERS
Whether you call what your team is doing “lean research” or “continuous discovery” or “having conversations with customers",” you want to see impact from the resulting insights. This workshop will uplevel your team’s research game and prepare them to independently run quality, unbiased lean studies that deliver actionable insights.
You choose the focus: usability studies or scripted interviews.
What it is
Actionable insights from a lean study run during the workshop.
A repeatable toolkit the team can use for any lean study.
Clarity on how to reduce bias to ensure the maximum possible impact.
Ability to prioritize the most important insights from each study and communicate for actionability using an Insight-Opportunity format.
Solidified learnings through post-workshop coaching.
Outcomes
You want Designers, PMs, and others to make informed decisions based on real insights they glean by having direct conversations with customers.
You see teams running research in different ways and you want them to have a repeatable playbook for efficiency and simplicity.
Once they have insights, teams are not sure which are most important to focus on or how to make insights actionable.
Insights are lost due to lack of communication and tracking, leading to redundant conversations and missed opportunities.
This is useful when
Workshops are highly interactive - teams practice skills towards a real-world problem.
Plenty of opportunity for discussion among the cohort and personalized attention from the instructor
All workshop recordings, slides, and templates will be shared with attendees
Attendance is open only to your team.
NOTE: Usability testing workshop requires use of a remote unmoderated research tool like UserTesting.com, Maze, etc. If your team does not have a license for this type of tool Carol can arrange a temporary license with a tool at additional cost.

Schedule and cost
How is this series different from similar workshops?
Just your people. The team that works together daily goes through the workshop together, so their workshop partnership experience mirrors their everyday work experience. Other workshops are open to larger or unlimited attendance, with attendees from various companies in the same cohort.
Focused. The most common types of research that designers and PMs likely need to run are usability tests and basic interviews. In this series we’re not trying to do too much, but providing the basis of understanding about all aspects of research (from planning, executing, and synthesizing, to making final insights actionable), while focused on the most common methods.
Practical, not theoretical. Teams run an actual study during the course of the workshop and get real feedback from Carol and a pro UX researcher along the way.
Actionable. Post-workshop 1:1 coaching helps the team solidify their understanding and addresses any lingering questions. Most programs offer limited or no 1:1 coaching, which is important to sear in the knowledge and be sure teams have absorbed how to make learnings actionable on their own.
